The universal registration aidFrom time to time we encounter problems when we wish to generate a registration code for users that have special characters in their usernames (accents, etc). Upon registration via a web interface these characters may be displayed properly on your side, but will not get "piped" through properly to us. To make sure we get the full information and can generate a registration code for you without any difficulties and hassle, we offer RegAid™ for free. RegAid™ displays nothing else but the user's HotSync™ name on the screen, encoded in a string of numbers that can be transferred without any difficulties, being absolutely free of any special characters (it contains just digits and colons). Please make use of this utility if your username contains any special characters and mail the code to us once you have registered. What does the code mean? The colon separated numbers displayed on the screen are nothing else but results from character-by-character type casting of the user name: number = (ULong) (pName[i]) For characters that are a part of the standard (7-bit) ASCII code number will be the corresponding ASCII value 0<=number<=127. Characters that are part of the extended character set result in a negative value. To convert this value into the corresponding (8-bit) character code for PalmOS (asc) calculate: asc = 256 + number This will result in a PalmOS character code between 128 and 255.
